About GI Studies and Ulcerative Colitis (UC)
Clinical research studies (also called clinical trials) are studies aimed at evaluating a potential medication, therapy, or treatment. The primary focus for researchers is to discover how safe a potential medication is and whether it works.
Gastrointestinal (GI) conditions affect a person’s gut or digestive system, which is made up of the GI tract, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. GI conditions can have a significant impact on a person’s overall health. Some GI conditions have similar symptoms, so multiple medical investigations may be required before a doctor arrives at a diagnosis.
Clinical trials for GI conditions that are currently recruiting include studies that will evaluate investigational medication options for Crohn’s disease (CD), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and ulcerative colitis (UC).
UC causes inflammation in the lining of the colon (large intestine). The main symptoms of UC are pain and recurring diarrhea, which may contain blood and/or mucus.
There is currently no cure for UC and people usually have symptoms on-and-off for life. However, the right treatments can help people manage their symptoms.
More research needs to be done so we can learn as much as possible about potential treatment options for UC and other GI conditions. The UC clinical studies are seeking people from all backgrounds with a UC diagnosis.
Join a “Ulcerative Colitis” clinical trial today and take a step toward finding a better solution for the treatment of “Ulcerative Colitis”.
